About Us
We are on a mission to make science accessible, playful, and deeply human.
Snackbox Science was born from a simple belief: that the most profound learning happens when we play. We create temporary makerspaces — in classrooms, parks, libraries, and community halls — where the boundaries between science, nature, and creativity dissolve.

Our nature-inspired design challenges invite participants to ask big questions. Why do leaves fall? How do birds fly? What makes a bridge strong? Through hands-on exploration, children and adults alike discover that they are already scientists — curious, capable, and creative.
Science belongs to everyone.
Play-led discovery
We trust that play is the most powerful engine for learning. Every program is designed to spark joy, curiosity, and deep engagement.
What we believe
Nature as mentor
The natural world is our greatest teacher. We draw inspiration from ecosystems, patterns, and processes to design challenges that feel alive.
Community first
Science is a team sport. We design every experience to bring people together — across ages, backgrounds, and expertise.
Our Approach
We do not believe in one-size-fits-all. Every Snackbox Science experience is co-designed with our partners to meet their community's unique needs, context, and aspirations.
1
Co-Design
We start by listening. Whether you are a teacher seeking curriculum innovation or a council planning a community event, we work alongside you to shape the perfect program.
2
Pop-Up & Portable
Our makerspaces arrive as a 'snackbox' — a portable kit of wonder containing materials, tools, and prompts. We set up, run the session, and pack down, leaving nothing but inspiration behind.
3
Evidence-Inspired
While we keep things playful, our programs are grounded in research on inquiry-based learning, design thinking, and nature pedagogy.
Hi, I’m Talia!

I’m a marine biologist, STEM teacher, and the founder of Snackbox Science. Over the last decade, my mission has been to turn big scientific wonders into hands-on, accessible adventures.

My journey in STEM has taken me from exploring the depths of the ocean to designing community makerspaces with schools, non-profits, and producing immersive STEM challenges for science museums. Beyond the classroom, I work closely with educational leaders and teachers, facilitating professional development to weave creative and critical thinking into the very fabric of their curriculums.

When I’m not teaching or designing, I’m navigating the beautiful chaos of motherhood with my little girl—who is, without a doubt, my favorite "curious creature" to explore the world with.
What I Believe: Science and mathematics are the ultimate universal languages. When we come together to tackle questions through the design cycle, we don't just solve problems—we become more reflective, creative, empathetic, and curious human beings.

Let’s look up, ask questions, and discover the mysteries of the universe together.
